Turkish Delight
In the story, young Edmund is seduced by the evil queen with Turkish Delight candies. How does this same seduction happen today in the world around us? From terrorism to natural disasters to the daily issues of our relationships, families, and workplaces, this message will explore the source, nature, and challenge of evil.

By Denis Beausejour

Series: From Mariemont to Narnia and Back

Why Does Evil Persist?

Introduction: the story-teller and the story line

Themes, questions, and reflections:

wardrobe.jpg1. Wardrobes & parables: Is there another reality that we cannot see?

2. Our "meta-narrative": don't we love an epic clash of good vs. evil?

winter.jpg3. Stumped: How is a good God related to evil and "endless winters"?

4. Responsibility: Do I know my "Turkish Delights" and my "Edmund" tendencies?

5. Freedom: Which of the two "Lions" have I really chosen?

Personal reflection and application:

For further study:

2. Further study: examples of God's use of evil for his good purposes: Job 1:1-2:10, Genesis 37:28, 50:19-20, Exodus 4:21, 2 Samuel 24:1, 1 Chronicles 21:1, 7-8, I Kings 11:4, 14, and 22:23, Isaiah 45:7, 63:17, Acts 2:23, 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12, 1 Peter 2:8b
