Galatians 2:15 - 3:5 Introduction Related: The Perfect Cross by Denis Beausejour International Museum of Reformation "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" by Jonathan Edwards, 1741 Beth Messiah Messianic Synagogue of Cincinnati Our goal today: To elevate our sense of gratitude, joy and passion to surrender to, follow, and live like Jesus. 1. We are justified, not by following the "law," but by placing our faith in the atoning work of Jesus on the Cross (Gal. 2:15 - 21; Leviticus 23) Feast of Trumpets - "Rosh Hashanah" ... October 3/4 - The New Year Day of Atonement - "Yom Kippur" ... October 12/13 - Sins of the nation atoned Feast of Tabernacles - "Sukkot" ... October 17 - Celebrating God's deliverance from Egypt and His provision
Justification: The declaring of someone not guilty, just or righteous Expiation: Satisfying wrath as a result of sin by a sacrifice Propitiation: A "covering for sin Atonement: To cancel, placate, appease, or to effect reconciliation; "at one" A. Our greatest need is acceptance or justification by God (v v 15 - 16) B. The only way is to apply the work of the Cross, to substitute Jesus' record for mine (v v 15 - 16) C. Not to trust in Jesus is a direct insult to God (v v 17 - 19) D. Trusting Jesus places us into a new life altogether (v v 20 - 21)

We live this life of faith, not by work of the "flesh" but by the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit (3:1 - 5) Personal Application: 1. Am I justified, right with God? 2. Am I really grateful, affectionate towards God? 3. Am I living in the Spirit, by faith, or by works? 4. How will I respond to God today? (Communion, Offering, Song, Surrender)
