Our Approach to Ministry

Worship. Worship is at the heart of our life together, bringing us into the presence of God. We seek to grow in our understanding and experience of worship in all its aspects—including praise, thanksgiving, giving, the commitment of our lives–personally and in community. Our worship services are designed for maturing Christians, but we strive to make them winsome to people seeking to know God. We offer different service formats to better engage the hearts and minds of our diverse congregation.

The Bible. We believe the Bible is God’s inerrant word. It records His thoughts, His interactions with people, His plan for all people and His direction for life today. It is the basis for our teaching, the standard for our conduct, and the message of hope we hold out to the world around us. We practice expository preaching—teaching people about life from the pages of the Bible. We learn together at all ages in large and small group settings.

Prayer. We believe our fellowship with God occurs in prayer, and in response to prayer He answers our requests. We equip people for a life of prayer, pray for one another, and incorporate prayer in all we do as a church.

Evangelism and Missions. We believe God is drawing people everywhere to a relationship with Himself, and that He has given us a part in this work. We equip and encourage people to be active in that process in our neighborhoods, in our city and around the world.

Fellowship. We believe God created the church for us to share life and purpose together. We are a place where deep relationships form, where needs are met, and lives are poured out on behalf of one another. Because small groups are the fundamental building blocks for discipling and equipping believers, and in building authentic Christian community, we encourage all to participate. We train and call those with appropriate gifts to lead these groups.

Family. We believe the family is central to God’s plan for people. We equip fathers, mothers and children for their respective roles. We minister when families are in trouble. We seek to be family when a natural family is absent.

Leadership. We practice a Biblical pattern of leadership and oversight for the church. Every member and ministry is covered by shepherding from qualified and equipped Elders, deacons and small groups. Staff pastors meet the Biblical qualifications for elders, and are ordained as Elders. Staff pastors provide day-to-day direction of the church’s ministry.

Membership. The ministry of the church is the work of every member. Members are expected to pursue growth in their relationship with Christ, identify and use their spiritual gifts for the benefit of others, participate regularly in the life of the church, and support the work of the church through a biblical pattern of giving. We encourage people who have salvation in Christ and have found a home in our congregation to formally join the church as members.
